Philosophy

Warm minimalism anchored in material honesty.

Our process respects the grain, patina, and soul of every material. Each release is a study in balance: bold geometry softened by tactile finishes.

Material Alchemy

Cypress, mango, Meru oak, and Mvule meet welded steel, artisan textiles, and hand-laid tiles to create depth without visual noise as each piece ages with character.

Edition-Based Craft

Pieces are produced in tightly edited runs from our Nairobi studio. Every release is documented and serialized for provenance across East Africa and beyond.

Function in Motion

Hidden joinery, soft-close mechanisms, and adaptive lighting balance tactile delight with daily usability across homes, lodges, and hospitality spaces.

Process

A collaborative arc from discovery to installation.

We design in dialogue with architects and homeowners. Expect ritualized check-ins, material samples, and obsessive attention to finishing details.

  1. Step 01

    Discovery

We map the architectural context, usage patterns, and cultural cues across Nairobi and the region to define a mood-forward design brief.

  2. Step 02

    Narrative Drafting

Iterative sketches and material studies converge into a digital model and physical maquette with woven fabric, carved timber, and tile samples for review.

  3. Step 03

    Fabrication

Partner artisans bend wood, forge steel, and hand-finish surfaces in small batches within our Nairobi workshop.

  4. Step 04

    Installation

White-glove delivery, on-site adjustments, and material care documentation ensure a seamless handoff across Kenya and East Africa.

Studio

A Nairobi studio building furniture with architectural backbone.

The GoodBones workshop spans design, prototyping, and fabrication under one roof. We collaborate with Nairobi metalworkers, textile artists, and wood carvers to merge modern techniques with ancestral know-how.

Our releases are documented meticulously - CAD, material boards, and finish schedules - so integrating with architects and interior designers across East Africa is seamless.
